Reasons You Should Play Best Ball
- š§ The drafts are SHARP. You will never be more prepared for your season-long drafts than after an offseason of Best Ball drafts.Ā
- ā¾ļø There is no roster management required. You won't get overwhelmed having a high number of teams.Ā
- š° The prizes for big tournaments are huge. One great draft can lead to you winning BIG.Ā
- š Drafting is fun. Best Ball allows you to participate in meaningful drafts throughout the entire offseason, and tap into different market inefficiencies that disappear as the season approaches.Ā Ā
No matter what level of fantasy football player you are, you should try Best Ball leagues! Here are the basic things you should consider when drafting Best Ball teams!
ā
Basic Roster Construction
ā
There ARE optimal roster builds that you need to be aware of and should target in each of your drafts.Ā
Ā
In basic QB-RB-WR-TE formats you should targeting the following builds:Ā
- 2-6-8-2
- 2-5-8-3
- 3-5-8-2
- 2-6-7-3
Generally you want to build your roster construction around where you are investing early draft capital. If you use one of your first 7 picks on a QB or TE, then you should only be drafting 2 of that position, but if you don't then you should consider 3.
ā
Player Types to Target
ā
- ā”ļø QB's that have a chance at 750+ rushing yards, 4,000+ passing yards, or 25+ TDsĀ Ā
- Lamar Jackson was the only QB in 2023 to rush for 750+ yards (821). Justin Fields, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen all did this in 2022.
- 10 QBs threw for 4,000+ yards in 2023 ranging from Tua Tagovailoa (4,624) to Trevor Lawrence (4,016)
- 15 QBs had 25+ total TDs in 2023 ranging from Josh Allen (44) to Trevor Lawrence (25)
- šÆ RBs with a chance at 50+ receptions and/or 10 TDs
- 14 RBs had 50+ receptions last season ranging from Breece Hall (76) to Samaje Perine (50)
- 11 RBs had 10+ TDs in 2023 ranging from Raheem Mostert and CMC (21) to Saquon Barkley (10)
- š RB's in ambiguous scenarios or are one injury from meeting the above criteria
- Ambiguous backfields as of right now - Titans, Steelers, Broncos, Giants, Commanders, Panthers, Chargers, Cowboys
- RBs who may be "one injury away" - Antonio Gibson, Tyjae Spears, Brian Robinson, Ty Chandler, Tyler Allgeier, Blake Corum, Trey Benson, Rico Dowdle, Kendre Miller, Marshawn LloydĀ
- š TE's with top-3 weekly upside or just punt the position and take 3 TE's lateĀ Ā
- Top 3 TE's of 2023 - Sam LaPorta, Evan Engram, Travis KelceĀ
- Walter projects 12 TE's to have a top 3 ceiling - Sam LaPorta, Travis Kelce, Trey McBride, Mark Andrews, Dalton Kincaid, Kyle Pitts, Jake Ferguson, Evan Engram, George Kittle, Dallas Goedert, David Njoku, Brock Bowers
- Late round TE's to keep an eye on - Luke Musgrave, Isaiah Likely, Cade Otton, Taysom Hill, Jonnu Smith, Daniel Bellinger, Tyler Conklin, Hunter Henry
- š„ Stack players from the same team with QB/WR, QB/TE, or RB/RB combosĀ
- Stacks reduce the amount that you need to be right and create large boom opportunities. Which is perfect for Best Ball - you are trying to draft teams that are perfect!
- DO NOT REACH to create these! Reaching will lower the overall ceiling of your team and you will lose out on value.Ā

Factoring in the Schedule
Weeks 15-17 are CRITICAL for advancing in later rounds. If you can you should target stacks on teams that have a favorable playoff schedule during those weeks.
Ā
For example, last year's Dallas vs. Detroit game in Week 17 ended up being a major shootout. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb combined for 61.5 PPR points. Every team with that stack had a very high advance rate.Ā
Ā
š Here are some teams to target that have favorable fantasy schedules in Weeks 15-17 in 2024:Ā
- Houston TexansĀ
- Opponents - Dolphins, Chiefs, RavensĀ
- San Francisco 49ersĀ
- Opponents - Rams, Dolphins, LionsĀ
- Detroit LionsĀ
- Opponents - Bills, Bears, 49ersĀ
